Copy, Paste And Cut Inventor Passes Away At 74.

Larry Tesler Was Also Apple’s Chief Scientist.

Larry Tesler, the computer scientist, who is famous for inventing the computer concepts cut, copy and paste, has sadly passed away at age 74 BBC News reports. Larry was born in New York in the year 1945 and he studied computer science at Stanford University. After his graduation, he worked in the university’s computer science and genetics departments before he became a research assistant with the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

In the year of 1973, Tesler commenced working at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and it is here that he developed cut, copy and paste. The concepts have been instrumental in the development of text editors as well as early computer operating systems.

While copy, paste and cut were developed at PARC, the research center is even more well renowned for the early work on GUI (graphical user interfaces} and also using a mouse to navigate them.  Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder used many of these ideas as an inspiration for Apple’s new developments, innovations and products.

Microsoft Set To Bring Antivirus Software To Android And iOS

Currently Defender for mobile is in the development stages. The company, Microsoft, have announced that they have plans to bring their Defender antivirus software to both the iOS operating system as well as Android later in 2020.

Currently the software giant is developing apps for both of these mobile operating systems and this will allow them to provide antivirus prevention as well as a what they descripe as a”full command line experience”.

As yet, the company has not yet shared any of the details about the functionality of these apps. However there are plans to demonstrate and preview them at the soon to be held RSA conference. These mobile Defender apps are in all likelihood to be different than their desktop versions.  This is somewhat due to Apple not allowing apps to scan iOS for malware .

However with Android, Google’s mobile operating system, there is already a large number of Android antivirus apps. And these apps are capable of detecting malware in other installed apps that have been sideloaded onto the scanned device.

One if the main features is said to be phishing prevention for both Defender on iOS and on the Android operating system as is Microsoft aiming to protect businesses from having their employees unwittingly share their credentials such as usernames, passwords and other sensitive account information with potential attackers.
